Gotts Court Parking Facility
Gotts Court Parking Facility

Type: Historic
Project Name: Gotts Court Parking Facility
City: Annapolis
State: MD
Client: City of Annapolis

Features: 554-car spaces on five and one-half supported levels plus grade.

Description: Centrally located within the Historic District of Annapolis, this 554 space parking facility provides badly needed parking to serve the State Capitol complex next door and the burgeoning tourist traffic to this historic area. A tourist Welcome Center was developed alongside the parking facility. To maintain a low profile within this historically sensitive area, two and one-half levels of the parking facility are below street level to stay within a 35-ft. height limitation. Extensive use of brick and ornamental metal provides a “19th century feel” to the architecture that blends well with the surrounding historic structures. Special landscaping, planter walls and pathways soften the surrounding exterior and provide tourists with quiet relief. Extensive review hearings before the Architectural Review Board and prolonged community meetings were conducted by Desman Associates to achieve project approvals. Since project completion, the facility has been well received by the community as a welcomed addition to the historic district. Desman Associates is the Architect and Structural Engineer of Record.
