Metro Gateway South Traffic Study
Type: Transportation Studies
Project Name: Metro Gateway Shopping Center Traffic Study City: Hillside State: IL Client: Par Development Incorporated Description: DESMAN Associates performed a traffic impact analysis for the proposed Metro Gateway South redevelopment to be located west of Mannheim Road at the intersection of Mannheim Road and Harrison Street. The purpose of the traffic study was to determine the impact of the planned development on the adjacent street network and to suggest any traffic geometric improvements as needed. The internal circulation of traffic and layout of parking within the site was also reviewed to insure an effective design. The analysis included data collection that was used to inventory existing conditions near the site. A directional distribution was estimated based on existing travel patterns. The future peak hour traffic volumes were determined based on the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) trip generation rates. An analysis of the current geometrics of the intersections surrounding the development was conducted, as well as a traffic simulation model which determined the impact of the additional traffic on surrounding intersections. The simulation model provided a visual tool to determine whether traffic would unacceptably queue back into the off-ramp for Interstate 290. The report was submitted to IDOT to receive proper permitting for the project. |
