Project Name: 222 North LaSalle Building City: Chicago State: Illinois Client: Tishman Speyer Realty Features: 26-story brick, limestone and terra cotta structure remodeled in 1985. Description: The 222 N. LaSalle building is a steel-framed structure consisting of seven bays north to south and fifteen bays east to west, clad with brick, limestone, granite and terra cotta. All windows were replaced in 1985. In May of 1995, Desman observed all elements of the masonry fa?ade and identified limited areas of deterioration. To accommodate Ownership?s projected maintenance budget, Desman developed a five-year prioritized maintenance program to address the renovation of the fa?ade. Desman provided construction documents and site observations for the work that began in the spring of 1996 and completed in December 2000. Repairs included: limestone patching and replacement; masonry tuck pointing; cleaning the lower five stories of limestone on LaSalle Street and Wacker Drive and sealant replacement between all granite to granite panels and window surrounds. |
