Project Name: Chicago O'Hare International Airport City: Chicago State: IL Client: Chicago O'Hare International Airport Description: In 2000 and 2001, DESMAN Associates in association with Parsons Transportation provided parking functional design and master planning for Chicago O’Hare International Airport. The work included: 1. A six level, 6,300 space parking structure located at the remote lot E. The design included connections to the existing people mover and future provisions for a vehicular bridge to allow entry from Mannheim Road. The facility includes state of the art central cashiering systems, roof level snow melting pits and selected materials to enhance the long term durability of the structure. 2. A six level , 3,000 space horizontal addition to the main elevated parking structure (EPS). The addition is a horizontal extension of the existing parking structure to the north. It includes internal ramping systems, expansion of the existing exit lane revenue control systems and vehicular interconnections at all elevated floor levels. 3. Reconfigurations of remote Lots B and C (2,500 spaces) to increase the parking capacity, extend the existing pavement and modify access. The bus shuttle system routing was analyzed and modified to allow for greater efficiency and turning maneuverability. |
