Description: DESMAN Associates provided parking consulting services and structural engineering design for this major modernization and expansion project at the Albany County Airport. Working with the design team, DESMAN provided structural engineering services for the garage superstructure and provided additional consulting services for operational issues regarding cash collection systems. The garage design incorporated the use of a speed ramp system for vertical circulation connecting all parking levels. The architectural theme for the garage complemented the main terminal’s aesthetics respecting its height, color and texture. A glass clad pedestrian bridge offers weatherproof access to the terminal as well as providing a high degree of passive security. The structural system of pre-cast concrete columns, double tees and beams was selected for durability, longevity and minimal maintenance.
