Description: The new Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) West Parking Facility located in New Britain, Connecticut will be a 1,039-space, five-level open parking structure serving the needs of CCSU students, faculty, staff and visitors/general public. The garage will be served by two entrance/exit areas of two lanes each and shall be connected with the University’s perimeter roadway system. The superstructure is pre-cast pre-stressed concrete designed for seismic loads. An architectural pre-cast finish with brick inlay will provide an attractive treatment for the façade and stair/elevator cores having a combination of expansive glass areas as accented by architectural pre-cast panels will catch the eye upon arrival into the University. An external pedestrian bridge will provide convenient access to the Maloney Hall arts facility. Significant site work shall involve the demolition of an adjacent facility, elimination of adjacent parking lots, relocation of exiting and installation of expanded underground utility systems, street traffic lanes and signals installation, the use of extensive landscaping and pedestrian oriented amenities, the construction of a Ceremonial Entrance with a Campus Information Booth, in addition to the incorporation of a campus and community shuttle bus systems. The facility will include “Blue-Light” safety stations, a CCTV system serving all elevators, tower lobbies and primary vehicle/pedestrian access ways along with glass stair towers and providing maximum visibility. As the Owner’s Agent and Parking Consultant, DESMAN’s role includes program and scope document development; RFQ and RFP development; design-build bidding, evaluation and support; design development and contract documents review; evaluation and recommendation of enhancements to garage vehicle control, signage and security management systems; shop drawings review; payment requisition review/approval; construction monitoring and punch list development and construction administration services for the Department.
