Type: Parking Studies
Project Name: The Gateway Shared Parking Study City: Salt Lake City State: UT Client: The Gateway Description: DESMAN Associates was retained by The Gateway to perform a shared parking analysis of The Gateway in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Gateway is a mixed-use development which currently includes retail, office space, restaurant, night club, cinema, and museums. There are proposed development plans which include a hotel, expanding the retail and office space, and constructing condominium units. Since many of these planned uses on-site have different parking peaks, shared parking can be effectively utilized on-site. Two different development scenarios were analyzed. The event parking demand from the Delta Center was also taken into account as part of the analysis. The Urban Land Institute (ULI) 2nd edition (2005) of Shared Parking was calibrated based on parking occupancy counts during periods where there were no events and where there were events at the Delta Center. The calibrated shared parking model was applied in determining the future shared parking demand during both events and non-event days. Recommendations were provided for the sufficient number of spaces needed on-site to support the shared parking peak demand and the event parking demand. |
