Chicago, IL
Type: Restoration - Plaza
Project Name: 300 S. Riverside Plaza City: Chicago State: Illinois Client: Bank One Features: 23-story, glass curtain wall clad building sited upon a 17,250 square foot plaza build over Chicago Union Station Air Rights. Description: In May of 1996 the First National Bank of Chicago engaged DESMAN Associates to provide a condition assessment report for the plaza of their newly acquired 300 S. Riverside Building. As a result of the study, the structural support of the three plaza flag poles was rebuilt and temporary repairs were made to the plaza surface. In 1997 new plaza lighting was installed. 300 South Riverside is located in downtown Chicago with its boundaries being the Chicago River on the east, Van Buren Street on the south, Jackson Boulevard on the north and the railroad right-of-way and then Canal Street on the west. The existing exposed aggregate topping is to be removed down to the top of the waterproofing membrane protection board. New sub-surface/surface deck drains will be installed. Damaged water proofing membrane repaired, setting bed installed along with new granite pavers. A new ADA compliant entry ramp will also be installed at the Jackson Boulevard entry. DESMAN will provide full A/E services from condition assessment report through site observation of the construction. |
