Project Name: Schrank Hall & Parking Garage City: Akron State: Ohio Client: University of Akron Features: Two-level, 270-car parking garage built in 1970 with a top pedestrian plaza level. Concrete repairs and re-waterproofing of the plaza and garage. Description: This structure consists of a two-level, 270-car parking garage guilt in 1970 with a top pedestrian plaza level. The garage & plaza serve two multi-story buildings, Schrank North & Schrank south. A condition assessment was conducted on the parking garage & plaza. DESMAN was responsible for generating construction documents related to the repairs. The garage restoration work will consist of partial & full depth replacement of deteriorated portions of the structural slab. An elastomeric waterproofing material will be applied to approximately 2/3 of the structural floor slab. The remaining garage structural floor slab, which extends over occupies space, will receive a protected waterproofing membrane. The plaza which consists of concrete pavers & landscaped areas, will be completely removed & replaced. The entire plaza area will receive a hot applied asphaltic waterproofing system which may include a protection board, insulation, rootstop & drainage mat. DESMAN will provide construction administration for the implementation of the repairs. |
