Columbus, OH
Type: Parking Studies
Project Name: The Ohio State University Parking Garage Site Analysis City: Columbus State: Ohio Client: The Ohio State University Features: DESMAN Associates was assigned the task of locating the most viable site on campus to build a Parking Structure of approximately 1,000 spaces. The garage would need to be located to provide parking relief to students and faculty during the day, provide event parking on weekends, and work within the guidelines of the University Master Plan. Site access, site efficiency, garage cost, compliance with the Master Plan, and net parking spaces gained were viewed as the primary criteria. Description: The Ohio State University had recognized that they have a parking space shortage on campus that exceeded approximately 3,000 spaces. In an effort to find parking relief, they secured financing for a garage of approximately 1,000 spaces. Because this garage would not completely serve their demand, they hired DESMAN Associates to conduct an analysis that would find the most effective and efficient site for a parking garage, then provide schematic drawings for that structure. DESMAN Associates identified four preliminary sites for a parking structure. We conducted conceptual schemes on each site to identify advantages and disadvantages for each. A site was selected through this process. Once our recommendation was excepted for a site, we provided schematic drawings and a construction cost estimate for final approval. Our recommendations were excepted and the garage is now under construction. |
