Type: Health Care
Project Name: 61st & Drexel Police/Office/Parking Facility
City: Chicago
State: Illinois
Client: University of Chicago Hospitals

Features: 1,000 parking spaces on 9 levels, with a 9,000 square foot police station at grade and 50,000 square feet of office space.

Description: The University has hired DESMAN to design their new state of the art mixed-use building, which will provide parking for 1,000 automobiles and provide a new home for the university police and psychiatry offices. The new facility will be one of the first buildings constructed as part of the University’s South Campus Master Plan with its success serving as a catalyst for further development.

In addition to the 9,000 square foot university police station office needs, the design must accommodate secured parking for fleet vehicles. These vehicles have been located in a manner to facilitate early response time, with access separate from the general public.
