Create graphical representations of parking structures and assist in planning and design of parking structures using Revit drawing tools. Develop technical methods and processes for the production of design and construction documents using Revit. Recommend and develop technical production processes to improve efficiency and quality using Revit programs. Interpret structural project design and details from other engineers into design and construction documents using Revit as necessary. Implement architect and engineering design into production documents for projects. Evaluate technical data to determine effect on designs, plans, and production of design and construction documents. DESMAN’s Cleveland & Pittsburgh Offices is looking for an Entry-to-Mid Level Restoration Engineer to investigate, analyze, and design repair and maintenance solutions for parking structures, plazas, building envelopes, roofs, and other types of built structures. The engineer will have a background and interest in structures, investigations, and materials that are used to develop solutions that ultimately add value and longevity to the structure.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities Include

• Performing condition assessments, investigations, field testing, and construction observation;
• Performing analysis of field data, structural analysis, computer modeling, developing repair alternatives, and spreadsheet cost estimations;
• An interest in restoration design in a team environment to manage production and development of engineered project drawings, details and specifications; review project submittals, shop drawings and confirmation of field material quantities as part of construction administration services;
• Project management and assistance with project coordination and meetings with the client and team members;

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or better in civil or structural engineering. Work experience in evaluation and repair of existing structures is required;
• Strong technical communication skills (written and verbal);
• Knowledge and experience using Autocad is not required but is a plus;
• Ability to work in the office and in the field. This role will require occasional travel locally and outside the local area.

Job Responsibilities

This position will require a leadership role in the company’s new design structural engineering department that will include intimate working knowledge for the complete design and engineering of predominant structural systems, working with the Chicago office Lead Structural Engineer in delegating manpower for projects as they relate to deadlines for production, project management in collaboration with other senior project managers, engineers and staff, and design tasks including the development of structural design calculations, specifications, structural drawings, details, and including coordination with Geotechnical, Architectural, and Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing sub-consultants. The applicant will have knowledge and experience with the structural design of precast, conventional, and post-tensioned cast-in-place concrete, structural steel and masonry. The candidate must have strong knowledge of ACI, AISC and ASCE reference standards, IBC building codes, and PCI & PTI Design Guidelines as they apply to the design of foundations, superstructures, and related building components. This position includes development of structural specifications, review of shop drawings, on-site review of construction progress, on-site pre-pour construction conferences, review of testing and inspection reports, and development of field reports.

The position requires working under the lead structural engineer, office principal and collaborating with the office production lead, senior staff, including project principals, senior project management staff and junior and mid-level architecture and engineering staff on parking related projects which are delivered as a prime and/or sub-consultant role.
