New Hope Street Garage Opens in Downtown Bristol
Designed with purpose. Built for community.
The City of Bristol, Connecticut, held a ribbon cutting on Friday to celebrate the opening of its new 196-space Hope Street Public Parking Garage – designed by DESMAN to support high-density development and reduce the need for small, scattered surface lots.
Located in the Centre Square area, the garage was funded in part by the American Rescue Plan Act and is a key step in maximizing downtown development. By enabling larger buildings on smaller lots and limiting a “sea of parking,” the project supports Bristol’s goals for walkability, smart growth, and improved access.
The garage:
< Provides dedicated parking for Wheeler Health employees and visitors
< Unlocked the addition of a residential level at Centre Square Village
< Serves Main Street and Centre Square businesses and future developments
As quoted in The Bristol Press, Tim Tracy, DESMAN’s Executive Vice President, shared: “It was a fun project to work on. I was excited to help the city realize its vision for high-density development downtown. The new garage will significantly enhance parking downtown and help to unlock future development.”
This marks the second public garage DESMAN has designed for the City, following the 155-space municipal parking facility that opened in 2023 and is also pictured.
