New York Botanical Gardens Parking

Features

Eight (8) level (Cellar plus seven (7) supported levels) precast parking structure for 825 cars serving The New York Botanical Garden and surrounding community

Summary

To preserve valuable landscape at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, designers located the new all–precast concrete parking structure and intermodal facility just outside the facility’s walls, extending its presence into the community.

DESMAN acted as Architect and Engineer of Record and worked closely with the design architects, Ennead Architects, NY in developing the details. The perimeter façade features precast “V” elements in-filled with GreenScreen that will support vine growth up the sides of the building. The stairs, located in all four corners are enclosed with translucent channel glass that provides a warm glow when lit from within at night.

The parking structure services visitors to The Botanical Garden and Garden staff, the adjacent Metro North Commuter Rail Station and the surrounding community.
