Cleveland Clinic E. 105th Street Parking Garage

Features

9-level facility with parking for 3000 cars within a double-helix design, two-way traffic flow and 90-degree parking.

Summary

The E. 105th Street Parking Garage is located on the southeast corner of the Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus. Encompassing an entire city block, the site sits between E105th and E106th streets and Wilbur & Cedar avenues on Cleveland’s East Side. With the development of the Opportunity Corridor along E105th Street, the intersection of Cedar Avenue and E105th Street becomes the southern portal to the campus. Sited alongside a primary portal to the Cleveland Clinic campus, this project has been envisioned as an icon and introduction to the campus.

The 5 bay wide concrete structure contains 3000 vehicles with 915,000 square feet of cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete on 8 supported levels with double-helix ramp access and 90 degrees 2-way parking. The facility has been designed to accommodate future expansions including a pedestrian bridge, now under construction, and first floor retail along E. 105th. The façade of the deck utilizes a combination of a concrete guard and vehicular crash rails, upturned beams, storefront glazing, and grilles to express its architectural form. An expansive elevator lobby to house four elevators and stairs is located on the northwest corner of the building and is clad in the glass curtain wall. Stair towers clad in glass curtainwall are located at two of the remaining three corners of the parking deck. The garage serves Cleveland Clinic Caregiver employees. The project was designed and constructed within a total timeframe of just under 19 months, from project kick-off to completion.

DESMAN was the Parking Consultant, Architect of Record and Structural Engineer of Record. The design team included Cleveland firms Donley’s as the Design-Builder, Bostwick Design Partnership for Bridging Documentation and Design, Karpinski Engineering for MEP/FP Services, Atwell Engineering for Civil Design and Ubiquitous Design, Ltd. for Landscape Design.
