Truman College Parking Facility

Features

Mixed-use 7-level parking facility for 1,100 cars with 75,000 GSF of college offices, student services, and gathering space.

Summary

The Truman College Parking Facility is a mixed-use facility supporting staff, student and visitor parking for the college and houses offices for student services and administration. The garage has approximately 1,100 parking stalls in 4 to 7 levels and is designed for future vertical expansion to allow for 7 levels throughout. Due to the high visibility of the project from an adjacent elevated CTA railway and the surrounding historic residential/retail district, the design incorporated varietal facades to screen the parking areas and to harmonize with the varied designs of the buildings immediately surrounding the project. To achieve LEED certification, the garage included contributions such as locations of preferred parking for bicycles and fuel-efficient vehicles, special concrete mix designs to reduce the heat island effect along with planters atop of the structure and integrated along the top edge.
