Summary
DESMAN served as Architect and Engineer for this project working for EW Howell under a Design/Build Delivery to LIRR. The project is a 920-space Parking Facility located at the Long Island Rail Road’s Wyandanch train station adjacent to the Wyandanch Rising residential community, one of Long Island’s most transformative Transit-Oriented Developments. The Wyandanch Parking Facility was built by the LIRR and funded through the 2010-2014 MTA Capital Program with most of the money provided by the Federal Transportation Administration. It was designed to complement the Town of Babylon’s $500-million Transit Oriented. Among the unique features of the Wyandanch, Parking Facility is the colorful painted-glass panels designed by the abstract expressionist Moe Brooker titled “Just Jazz,” which rises five stories high, bathing the interior entrance in bold colors during the day and offering an impressive view when illuminated from within at night.
