Summary

The Franklin County Convention Authority parking facility has been designed to serve event parkers for the convention center, Nationwide Arena, the Short North entertainment district and the adjacent Hilton Hotel. Event Facility is a structured parking facility is a 2-bay wide, cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete parking structure containing approximately 850 cars on 7 levels.

The parking deck has been designed to allow for future retail on the ground level. The roof level can accommodate overflow event space from the convention center. The roof level event space boasts spectacular views of downtown Columbus and has provisions for washrooms and catered events. The parking facility incorporates a single helix design with 90-degree parking and two-way traffic in the two bays. The ramping system has been located on the east end of the site which allows the west end to be adapted into an alternate use in the future. Safety features include two glass-backed elevators, glazed stair towers, emergency phones on each level and open stair and elevator lobbies. Electrical, mechanical, plumbing, storage and equipment and elevator machine rooms along with bicycle parking have been located on the first level.

A pedestrian bridge will connect the 3rd level of the garage directly to the convention center. DESMAN is the Parking Consultant and Structural Engineer of Record.  NBBJ Architects, in Columbus, is the Architect of Record.
