Mixed Use
Terrapin Row Parking Garage

Features
7-Level, 480-stall parking deck constructed immediately adjacent to student housing buildings.
Summary
The Terrapin Row development provides new market-rate rental housing located on the edge of the University of Maryland campus. The parking functional design consists of a single helix with the lower two levels shaped to conform to the contours of the existing sloping topography. Precast, prestressed concrete was selected for the frame as a measure to decrease on-site construction time.
The exterior design evolved understudy of existing and anticipated adjacent and neighborhood developments and thorough reviews conducted by the City of College Park and Prince George’s County. The result is an exterior façade consisting of precast concrete with inlaid brick masonry, tinted glass curtain wall systems, and treillage. The design team took care to ensure that brick and glass materials matched those used on the immediately adjacent housing buildings. Additional project features include electric vehicle charging and bicycle parking. DESMAN is serving as the architect of record and engineer of record for the parking garage portion of this mixed-use project.
