ANTHONY J. CELEBREZZE BUILDING PLAZA RESTORATION

Summary

The Anthony J. Celebrezze Building Plaza is a multi-use U.S. Federal Government complex built in the mid 1960’s.  The site consists of a 30+ story high rise building, which primarily serves as office space for various U.S. Federal Government agencies.  A structurally supported, fully landscaped, plaza completely surrounds the building.  DESMAN was retained to conduct a detailed structural condition assessment of the plaza due to water leakage and visible signs of concrete deterioration to the structural slab of the plaza.  As part of the condition assessment, a number of exploratory openings were created to investigate and document the conditions of the plaza.  The existing elements that comprise the landscaping for the plaza, including trees, pavers, walls, etc. are to be removed and replaced.

DESMAN provided services related to the restoration of the structural elements of the plaza, the determination of an allowable loading for the structural plaza slab, the removal of the existing waterproofing system, and the design/detailing for the installation of a new waterproofing system.  The entire structurally supported plaza slab area will receive a hot applied waterproofing system which may include a protection board, insulation, rootstop & drainage mat.  DESMAN will provided construction administration for the implementation of the repairs and installation of a new waterproofing system.
