Summary

The redevelopment program of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City mainly consisted renovation of plaza areas with planters and reflecting pools, underground parking garages, utility tunnels, vehicular tunnels etc. The complex was originally constructed in various phases through the 1960’s. The structurally supported plaza and underground parking garages are constructed of a cast-in-place concrete waffle slab design. The utility and vehicular tunnels are constructed of conventionally reinforced cast in place concrete

DESMAN was involved in the redevelopment of underground parking garages, structural repairs of plaza above the parking garages, repair of utility tunnels, renovation of vehicular tunnels etc. DESMAN conducted a thorough engineering assessment of the structures and several methods of repair programs along with their associated costs and life expectancy were presented to the owner.

Based on the selected repair options, DESMAN has prepared the construction documents including repair drawings and specifications etc. DESMAN also provided construction engineering support services and filed inspections. The major repairs include full depth and partial depth slab repairs, concrete topping repairs, expansion joint repairs, structural strengthening, overhead slab and beam repairs, foundation wall repairs, crack repairs, epoxy and chemical grout injection, drainage improvements, striping etc.
