Green, Hudson, and Colombia Street Parking Garages
The Green & Hudson Parking Garage Parking Garage is a five-story self-park, open parking structure located between Hudson and Beaver Streets and spanning over Green Street in downtown, Albany, NY. The 22 years old free-standing Parking Garage has an approximate parking capacity of 900 cars. The structural system is cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete.
The Columbia Street parking garage is a free-standing parking structure located on Columbia Street in Albany, New York. The garage consists of two levels, one which is structurally supported and the other which is on grade. The garage is approximately twenty-three years old. The structural system of the Columbia Street parking garage consists mainly of pre-cast concrete double tees supported by pre-cast concrete girders and columns.
DESMAN was retained by the Albany Parking Authority (APA) to provide professional engineering services for the inspection, design, and construction administration of the Green & Hudson Parking Garage. The purpose of the survey, as performed by DESMAN, is to evaluate the physical conditions of the parking garage and develop a five-year repair and preventive maintenance program for the structure. DESMAN’s services included a Condition Survey and Testing Program, Design and Bidding Services, Construction Administration, and Job Site Supervision Services.
The repair & Maintenance program to the Green & Hudson Garage have included repairs such as partial and full depth slab repairs, post-tensioning repairs, overhead concrete repairs, parapet wall repairs, façade concrete repairs removal of existing membrane, new traffic bearing waterproofing membrane, expansion joint seal replacement, crack repairs, façade brick repairs, stair tower repairs, etc. The repair & Maintenance program to the Columbia Street Garage have included Concrete topping repairs, full depth slab repairs, Double tee repairs, new tee connectors, overhead concrete repairs, column& beam repairs, replacement of expansion joint seals, surface scaling repairs, new traffic bearing waterproofing membrane, expansion joint seal replacement, crack repairs, façade brick repairs, stair tower repairs, etc. This project was completed on schedule and within budget.
