Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal 3 Parking Garage
DESMAN was responsible for the development of a Design Criteria Package for a 1,000 space, eight-level garage serving a new cruise ship terminal at Port Canaveral. Speed ramps provide access to the parking which is located above the Ground Transportation Area.
DESMAN was retained in 2018 to provide parking consulting and structural engineering for the new 1,000 space parking structure serving the new Cruise Terminal 3 at Port Canaveral. DESMAN provided the functional design for the garage which included a Ground Transportation Area (GTA) at the grade level of the garage which includes 33 bus bays, 100’s of linear curb feet for passenger pickup/drop-off, recirculation/return to terminal roads, separate access for motor coaches, as well as staging areas Private Transportation Networks such as Uber and Lyft. The garage has seven levels of parking above the GTA which is served by a pair of speed ramps and a pedestrian connection to the terminal at the second level of the garage. The entry/exit plazas are located at the second level of the garage to minimize traffic congestion and queuing in the GTA.
DESMAN provided structural engineering for the garage establishing a column grid that is integrated with the functional design and space layout to achieve the most efficient design. DESMAN also worked with HUB Parking to provide the preliminary design and specifications for the Parking Access and Revenue Control System (PARCS) equipment. The PARCS equipment includes pay-on-foot kiosks, ticket spitters and gate control upon entry as well as ticket payment verifiers (plus cash/credit card ability) at the exit plazas. The PARCS design incorporates Sunpass access to readers in two of the three entry lanes and two of the four exit lanes.
DESMAN is also providing bid and design assistance to the D/B contractor a construction administration services for the Port.
